First, check how many results you get for your main keywords.

For example, if I type the keyword "Notion Template", I get 7,834 search results. But within these results, many are not actual Notion templates but rather related products, such as digital planners.

Does that seem like a high volume to you?

Let's see another niche using the search term "digital planner". The result is 583,618.

In my experience, a general rule of thumb is that if a keyword search on Etsy generates less than 30,000 results, it indicates low competition and it means it is worth doing an more in-depth research.

  1. Check the Competition

Now, let's see if your products can really stand out among the competition in your chosen niche. At the time of writing this guide, there are around 7,834 search results for the term "notion template" on Etsy. While it may seem like a decent number, keep in mind that the Notion niche is becoming more and more competitive.

In addition, it's essential to consider the variety of products available within your niche. Take the Notion niche as an example. Currently, the diversity of templates in this niche is somewhat limited. You will find that most templates are personal life planners or business planners, making this niche a little more challenging to enter.

You need to make sure that your Notion templates are unique and offer something different from the competition to stand out and truly capture your target audience's attention. Personally, I think there is still room for new ideas and unique offerings in this niche.
