Possibilities: However, the hardest part is making sure that this product remains a bestseller. In 2023, I accidentally created a bestseller; a client had asked me if I could create this product, I did, listed it, and it quickly sold out, to the point where it became a bestseller, also in less than 3 weeks.
These are my five biggest bestsellers. The number four is the one I’m talking about.
At that time, to boost my sales, I decided to advertise this product on Etsy, and my sales increased significantly. Additionally, I obtained a large number of reviews for this product, which gave me an advantage over the competition.
However, this product was easy to create, and once it went viral, other competitors started creating similar, cheaper products. For a while, my product remained a bestseller, benefiting from the large number of reviews I had obtained for it, but gradually my sales started to decline until my product lost its bestseller badge.
The reasons? First, as I've already explained, the competition started offering this product at a lower price, and secondly, the demand for this type of product decreased. I tried to adapt, whether it be in terms of price, thumbnails, SEO, or Etsy ads, but it didn't work because without demand, no matter what product you offer, it will be difficult to make it a bestseller.
My recommendations:
If you have a bestseller, I would recommend using Etsy ads on it to boost your sales and reinforce its position as the top choice, while collecting a large number of reviews. (Generally, you never lose money advertising a bestseller, except if the price of your bestseller is extremely low, less than $1).
As long as it's working, no need to make changes, just stay as it is.
If you see your ROAS decreasing, this is a first indicator that your bestseller is starting to lose its appeal, and you'll need to start investigating why. More competition? Less demand? Keywords to find this product that have changed? In short, do in-depth research and analyze where this decline could be coming from.
Once identified, make the necessary adjustments. For example, in my shop, I sometimes adjust the price to keep my product as a bestseller. Or sometimes I put Etsy ads for 15-20 days on this product to boost it again, put it back as a bestseller, and then enjoy organic sales. Many strategies are possible, and they will be quite different depending on the type of products you sell.
Finally, if you've tried everything and your product isn't selling anymore, no matter the changes, take one last look at your competition. If one of your competitors offers the same type of product and has a bestseller, it means that the demand is still there, but that your product simply isn't up to par, and that your changes aren't of good enough quality.
Conversely, if you see that even among your competition there is no attractiveness, let it go and move on to another product. There are plenty of opportunities on Etsy; it would be a shame to miss out due to stubbornness.
